weight gain and belly size in twin pregnancy

by Shauna
(Chattanooga TN)

I am on my fourth pregnancy with twins I am eight weeks and I look like I did when I was six months with my last child.. I'm small and a fit freak and now I'm just freaking out. The Dr said I should only gain 5-10 lbs more than my single babies so 35lbs but It doesn't look like 35lbs to me in all the photos I've found it looks more like 50 and thats on the all baby moms.. I don't have stretch marks and I don't want them. How much weight am I really going to gain ladies???? Is there stretch marks in my future and if so can I have them removed?

weight gain
by: Maeghan

For twins, the recommendation is often 35 to 45 pounds (about 16 to 20 kilograms) for women who have a healthy weight before pregnancy
It is recommended to gain 35-45 lbs with a twin pregnancy. That is for someone who has a healthy weight before pregnancy. If you are over-weight, you don't need to gain as much. I only gained 12 lbs but I am also over weight. http://s144.photobucket.com/albums/r184/maeghanalyson/New%20Pregnancy/?action=view¤t=006-4.jpg <

Not everyone gets stretch marks. I did with my twins, but i know people that had none. I only gained 35 lbs with my boys, and they weighed 7lbs 2oz, and 6 lbs 3 oz which is preety big for twins born at 35 weeks.I lost all the weight before i was even out of the hospital. One year later and I weigh 117 lbs. I have some stretch marks but there is absolutly no "pooch". I was very active and fit before, during , and after, the twin pregnancy. I dont think you will have any issues. I recommened the lotion Cosmityn for stretch marks while your pregnant. It is expensive but worth it!
