We are still going at 4.5 years!

Annie and Amanda at about 2.5 years old
We've had our bumps along the way, but since they were born at 33wks we did some bottles with my milk in NICU and then I pushed to bf after two days and we've never looked back. They were exclusively breastfed for 7 months and and still love their "nanny".
It is a challenge to breastfeed twins, but no more so than any other way of feeding them. We have coasted through mild illnesses, the usual tantrums and growing pains, and all the usual milestones, but we were always supported by and eased through by our breastfeeding relationship and all the benefits they get from my milk. Yes, it can be hard, but the rewards for them and me make it all worth it.
I actually would never want to have twins without breastfeeding them since it is such a wonderful way to bond, feed, nourish, protect, and soothe them, and they are slowly slowing down just as they should be when child-led weaning is practiced.
They nurse usually twice a day now unless someone is sick, and they will come tell me the benefits they are getting when they feel a little sniffle coming on. I think they will be ready to stop in another 6 months or so, maybe less, and that is fine with me too.
