Valerie's Twin Birth Story

"Wow 2... There's 2 IN THERE... Are You SURE???"

My husband and I had tried to conceive for over 2 years without luck... So we had given up all hope and moved on to thanking God for the one child we did get... She was now 6 and very happy little girl. I had an appt. to meet with a student advisor to start school in June. My appt was for May 26th but the night before I was going through all of my school paper work and talking with a friend of mine when I realized my monthly friend hadn't come to visit. I pondered that for a while and figured that it had come I just couldn't remember because my mind was thinking of school. The next morning before my appt. I decided that I had 1 pregnancy test left and I would just take it and get it over with so that I could quit worrying about it... And OMG it was finally positive. We were so excited. I was only about 6 weeks along at that time. School never happened needless to say but I was finally going to have another baby to complete our family...

I was very sick all day for the first 2 months but after that I was just so tired. No one thought anything of it. I grew as if I was carrying a singleton and weight gain was fine too. I had an ultrasound scheduled for 20 weeks and we were so excited to see who was growing in my belly... When we got into the room (My husband, my sister, and I) we all got comfy and waited to see... The ultrasound tech placed the gel on my belly then the wand and gasp... "Well I've got news" she said smiling... I looked up at the screen and began to cry... I looked to make sure that my husband was still standing and he was.. LOL Then she measured each one of them and asked if we wanted to know what we were having. "Well yes" I said excitedly. She said that baby A was a girl so deep down I knew we were going to have 3 girls (including my 6 year old) But I was ok with that. Then she said "And baby B... It's a BOY" My husband was SO excited. They were both growing fine and we were all so glad. We had no idea that we would be ... Multiples do not run on either side of our family's. We did not take or do any type of fertility meds... WOW!!! 2 REALLY???? My grandma when we told her said " God never gives you more than you can handle, and well Twins have to start somewhere."

The rest of the twin pregnancy was great up until Thanksgiving which I was 29 or 30 weeks along when one of the monthly u/s came back that baby A was suffering from IUGR.(Inner Uterine Growth Restriction) I was so scared that something was going to go wrong. We then started having weekly BPP's, Weekly NST's, Weekly prenatal visits, and bi-weekly full u/s's. They both continued to grow but baby A stayed smaller. So on Dec. 23rd during my last U/S the dr said "today we are gonna have a birthday." And they induced my labor, I was 35week 1day. We had both babies vaginally which I was thankful for and they only had to stay in the NICU for 9 days... We are so grateful and are very blessed... After 4 months they are healthy and growing fast. It's true what people say God NEVER gives us more than we can handle...

Thats a great story! We did not find out we were having twins till or 22 week ultrasound, we were shocked too. Twins do not run in eother of our fsamilies either. We had identical twin girls, who are now almost 13 months old.
