Twins Sailor Beach Babies

I was 37 when my husband and I tried to have children...we immediately went to a fertility clinic highly recommended by friends in our area. I knew I would have trouble getting pregnant as I had not menstruated in over two years due to a small non cancerous tumor on my pituitary gland. We went through one round of Clomid and instantly got pregnant on the first try!! After a visit to my ob-gyn, the dr politely tried to tell me the second baby might vanish as well(vanishing twin syndrome)....since it looked much smaller than the 1st. Everyday on my way to work I exclaimed out loud...I am the mother of two healthy full term babies, that I am!
At 26 weeks during a routine visit to my ob's office, I learned my cervix had shortened to 1 cm....when asked if I was in pain I said "yes, but I have had back pain for several weeks". I was sent immediately to the hospital and put on a monitor where we learned I was having contractions every three minutes and the contractions were extremely painful!
After a consult with a neonatologist, who laid out quality of life issues for the babies etc...I sat up in the bed and yelled...these babies are not being born tonight! After some medication,prayers and some rest the contractions subsided....I stayed in the hospital for 6 weeks and after two weeks at home went into labor naturally and delivered at 34 weeks and 5 days. It was the best moment of my life when my twin babies were born.
Although raising two babies at once is tough at times, I can't imagine just having one baby! My life has a purpose and I savor every moment with Hart and Sadie Allen!
