Twin Pregnancy: Weight Loss and Work

by Tina Lavanga
(Pennsylvania)

I'm 14.5 weeks pregnant with twins. I've only had 2 doctors appointments so far. Between the 1st and 2nd visit I lost 3 or 4 lbs and I haven't gained much weight since then. I have been eating small meals throughout the day, but it's mostly healthy food. I also move around a lot at work. I'm on my feet about 7 hours out of an 8 hour day. I work about 55 - 64 hours in a two week period. I am concerned about not gaining enough weight and am wondering if I need to cut down my hours at work at this stage in my pregnancy. Please advise. Thank you!

Thank you, Kristy! That was very helpful. My husband and I found out that we are having twins at our first ultrasound, which was the day after my last monthly appointment with my doctor, so my next appointment is still two weeks away. Now that we know there are twins we became very concerned about not gaining enough weight and didn't want to wait two weeks to ask my doctor. Best of luck to you and your babies, and your large family, as well!

I do not go to work I am a stay at home mom of 5 children already but since i have been pregnant I have lost weight too. As long as the babies are growing then you should be find. With my singleton last time i lost a total of 27 pounds in the first trimester. I was glad because I am a little over weight (Not a lot) then I gained it all back after I had her. It sucked. I am losing again I so far have lost 8 pounds and i am only 13 weeks and 4 days today. Weight lose and weight gain varies from person to person, but as long as your babies are healthy and growing then you should have nothing to worry about. Just remember you will gain A BUNCH MORE towards the end of your pregnancy!
I really hope this helped you out if you are working and eating right you have nothing to worry about. Please keep us updated on how things are going. Best OF Luck TO YOU and your babies!!!
