Twin Birth Stories -And then there were 3!!!

After deciding to have another baby when our little boy was 10 months old we never thought I would get pregnant straight away as dh had cancer and chemo which was thought to effect his fertility so we thought it would take a while.

I fell pregnant pretty much the day we decided to try again but had bleeding so was booked in for a scan to check everything and to double check dates, the day of the scan came and dh was unwell with manflu so i had to cart myself off to the hospital on my own for my scan excited to know what my baby looked like at 7 weeks.

I sat talking to the nurse who was explaining about doing an internal scan so when she started I joked with her not to tell me it was twins.. she turned round and said but it is look there's baby 1 and there's baby 2 I'm just checking for a third I was just in complete disbelief and shock that I started laughing as my little boy wasn't even 1 yet and there's the nurse telling me I'm about to have 3 children under 2!

I came home and gave the scan pics to hubby who was just in disbelief himself as the twins run in his family not mine but the way they were meant it was all down to me as they were dichorionic diamniotic 2 completely separate babies with their own placentas and amnio waters

I didn't say anything to anyone that they were twins until 12 weeks as I was worried that 1 would vanish so I when i saw them again at 12 weeks I was so pleased that they were both healthy everyone's reactions was always either how are you going to cope and your going to have your hands full! I wasn't bothered I was having beautiful twins and couldn't wait to find out what they were!

Time went on and it was a very normal stress free pregnancy just got extra bigger lol, when my 21 week scan came up I got very nervous knowing that this was my last pregnancy and if they both turned out to be boys then I would never have a daughter then came the moment that the sonographer said her couldn't see anything between either babies legs so he would say he's 90% sure they are both girls I was ectatic I loved my little boy and always wanted him to be special and then I knew he would be coz he'll always be my only lil boy =).

towards the end I was getting very fed up of being so huge and it was the height of the summer so i was always hot my legs swelled as did every other part of me then came d day....or so i thought!

I started having loads of pains called the hospital got in they examined me and said yep this is it your 4cm dilated then 6 hours later i was still at 4 and the contractions stopped. I was then chucked onto the pre natal ward for 2 weeks stuck at 4 cm doing everything i could to kick start it back up again but nothing till the day i went home i didn't feel right but ignored it 2 am the next morning my contractions had started again thick and fast we hopfooted it back to the hospital to find that i had dilated a further 2 cms so was now 6cm then again everything stopped =( they left me the night and then came in at lunchtime the next day broke my waters so then I really knew that I would have my girls that day then finally at 19.14 on the 5th august baby number 1 Amelia was born followed by baby number 2 Sofia at 19.21 who flew out breech with her waters they weighed 5lb 8oz and 4lb 7oz and are the best thing that has ever happened to me =D x
