Thyroid problems during a twin pregnancy

Hi, My name is Brittany. I am 15 week pregnant with twins and this is my first pregnancy. The doctor says i have an overactive thyroid, which really has me worried. I don't get to see the endocrinologist until later this month, and i don't want to worry until then.. Has anyone had this problem before and can give me some reassurance. Will my babies be affected? I am gaining weight and my tummy is getting bigger, so they seem to be growing, I am worried about birth defects and other issues. Any advice or reassuring words? Thanks
