The Henley Twins

When I was what I thought was 5 weeks pregnant I started having really bad cramps and was afraid of a miscarriage, so I had my mother and SO meet me at the emergency room. It was April Fool's day. We got there around 5:50 in the evening and I went through the whole process of getting the vaginal ultrasound and then waiting around for the doctor to see me...it ended up being around 2:30 AM before he made it back around to me. When he came in the door the first thing he said was "Sorry it took so long, but I wanted to be sure..." My mother started crying because she thought it was bad news. He said, "Well you are a little bit farther along than you thought. You are 7 and a half weeks pregnant...and you are having twins!"

I was like "April Fool's!" and laughed and he looked at me all somber and said "No sweetie. April Fool's was yesterday...it's 2:30." I was so shocked! I never even considered the possibility of twins! My mom was so excited and me and my SO could just stare at each other...

The twin pregnancy was fairly uneventful. I swelled up like the Michelin Man, but otherwise no twin pregnancy complications. So when my water broke at 33 and a half weeks I was a bit surprised. I had both boys vaginally and they were both healthy. They did, however, have to stay in the hospital for 3 weeks for observation and to work on their eating habits.

My boys are now 5 months old and are just as happy as any. They smile. They coo. They are just now starting to "see" each other. I am so excited for the years to come.
