Stopping birth control pills and becoming pregnant with twins?

by Danielle
(Indiana)

I just recently found out I am 9 weeks pregnant with fraternal twins. The first thing I did, after crying then smiling, was buy a couple books on raising twins. In one of them, it listed 6 things that increase your chance of dizygotic twins. One of them was getting pregnant quickly after stopping the birth control pill which is what happened to me. My first month off the pill I got pregnant. It said after that statement in parantheses that this is not recommended due to the increased chance of birth defects. Now I am even more terrified than I already was. Any info on this subject? I can't find much online anywhere. Thanks!
