So scared to give birth to twins

by Debra
(sidney Neb)

I have decided to change my mind about all of this, I don't want to give birth to my twins, I think I'll just let them go to college in here!

No really though I can't wait to hold them and to spend my life with them I am just so scared about the rest of this twin pregnancy and delivery. I am 18 weeks and just got out of the hospital because I had caught a bug and had been throwing up and unable to keep anything down so I got dehydrated and started having contractions, all is well now and the babies and I are fine but there are just so many things that I worry about every single day, like delivering too soon or having to have a c-section.

Now I am sure that these fears are very normal but how have you all handled these fears?

c-section
by: Anonymous

This is my first pregnancy, and my twins have a scheduled c-section at 38 weeks, on May 15th. I am scared to death of being awake during surgery. I have had metal put into my spine, and I was less scared of that (since I'd be put out). The other funny thing is that I'm a psychotherapist and work with people with anxiety and fears every day, so I should be able to handle my own. I sometimes wish they could stay in forever so I don't have to go through this surgery while awake, but I think the other people who have responded have a point....once the babies are in your amrs, it will be all worth it! Keep focussing on that!

c-section
by: Shelly Cunningham

I am not sure of your age, but I am 26 and had my twin boys in June via c-section. I recovered VERY quickly and was taking them on walks (pushing the stroller) by the time they were two weeks old. I would rather have a planned c-section (if you must- I had to due to Baby B being transverse) than to give birth to one baby vaginally and the other c-section!
Just take a deep breath and remember that however they get here, it will be wonderful. Their birth will just be ONE day of labor/surgery. Totally worth it!

I feel exactly the same way. I had a slight UTI and started having contractions at 14 weeks. it is very stressful. I want my babies to be born safely but one of my biggest fears is having a c-section. My other biggest fear is preterm labor. AHHHHHHH!

Giving birth

Your fears are totally warranted, but I want to let you know that it will be ok. We delivered our girls 8 weeks ago at 38 weeks via scheduled c-section(my choice) and it was not as bad as I had thought it would be. I too was nervous my whole pregnancy and going to college in my womb was a hrase I used often. Hang in there. It is true that once you hold your little one's you forget about the birth anyways :)
