Sleeping arrangements for twins ?
by Julie Holmes
I am expecting twins in August 14th . Can you please advise me how to let them sleep at night i.e. same or different cots ?

Congratulations Julie ! All babies are different of course - and will depend on if they both are full term, if they come home at the same time from the hospital etc. BUT - I have to say my advice would be to try and find a small basinette or a wicker Moses basket so you can snuggle them in together and be able to move it from room to room with you. A newborn baby looks absolutely lost in a big crib all by themselves!
Newborns also have that startle reflux and you'll find they settle down easier and sleep more soundly when they feel secured.
I am a big believer in not separating twins unless necessary. When we were in hospital - it was 'policy' to have them in separate basinettes. They screamed and fussed the entire time. When the nurse left the room I swaddled them each in a blanket and put them together and within minutes they sighed and went to sleep. The nurse got angry with me later and separated them again so we opted to leave the hospital where I could make the decisions at home.
As your babies grow and take up more space you can look at getting different cribs or cots as needed but at first just find something safe and small to put them in !
Hope that helps answer your question.
