sleeping arrangements for twin babies

by msconroy

I am 5 months pregnant with twins and am wondering should the twins sleep together and if so what is the best way? Is one Moses basket OK or is there a twin basket ? Is there such a thing?

DEFINITELY DO IT
by: Anonymous

We have twin girls born Janury 2009 too.

We always slept them together, from the start in hospital and at home until they needed more space, which for us was 4 1/2 months. I would view this as one of the MASSIVE bonuses of twin babies - all the twins we know who have slept together have been great sleepers.

Ours always slept so well and it is also meant to reduce cot deathrisk too, as they always have a breathing sibling to listen to.

We got cots/cribs with wheels and so when we moved them into their own cribs, we would roll the cribs next to each other during sleep times so they were close to each other whilst they got used to their own cribs/cots.

Now they are 8 months old, and its brilliant when they wake up, they chatter to each other and start the day happily together whilst mum and dad warm up to the idea of the start of the new day.

Sleepy Twins
by: Shelly Cunningham

I had my boys sleep together (in a Graco double bassinet in our bedroom) for the first four months. Then we moved them into their own room where they each had their own crib to sleep in.
I am glad I had two cribs because by five months they were really rolling around, and it was great for them to have their own space.
Now the boys are 11 months old, and still sleep in their separate cribs, but are able to see each other, which I think comforts them.
Good luck with your twins. It goes by really fast!

sleeping arrangements twin babies

I had my twin girls last January 2009. It was still cold in northern Taiwan,so we decided that they share a crib for warmth, although we bought 2 cribs. We put them in their own crib at around 2 1/2 months so they don't keep waking up each other and better space for each baby. We have a baby monitor(audio & video)but we still prefer that their cribs are in our bedroom for closeness & I would be able to wake up as soon as they cry. We do not put them on our bed during our sleeping time because they can get hurt when rolled upon. We have not decided yet when they will move to the baby room.
