Signs That I Was Pregnant With Twins

by Traci

OK, so I mentioned before that I knew it was twins and I would explain later. So here we go!

The night before I was supposed to have a visit from 'aunt flow', I had a dream that I took a pregnancy test and it was positive so I was pregnant. I woke up the next morning and told John about it. He was like, great. HaHa.

So then of course I kept swearing & telling myself she'd be there any day but she never showed. I took a pregnancy test a few days later and of course it was positive.

A few days after that I had another dream. It was one of those dreams that you don't really recognize the people in it but you could tell that they were a big part of your life. Well, there was a set of twin girls in it. They were maybe about Aiden's age and interacting and stuff with me, but it didn'tt seem like they were mine. I told John again and I'm sure you know what the reply I got on that one was too. HaHa.

Twins run in John's family and skip every other generation. Well, it's John's generation to have them. I swore that it wasn't going to be me , it was going to be John's sister Sue that was going to have them. So now we know I'm pregnant and there's a possibility that it could be twins but I was like, no not me. Not because it wouldn't be a blessing but I just feel like Aiden is still so young and he's such a lil mama's boy. He wants my attention all the time. He'll be two years old next month.

Next we went to Florida in April to visit John's dad, step-mom, and his brother and sister. By this point I was really sick all the time and just exhausted! They had planned to take us to Disney world as John has never been there and of course neither has Aiden. Well, it was a two hour drive each way and they wanted to leave at 6am. I didn't think I would be able to sit in the car for that long without getting seriously sick and then having to walk around the park all day in the heat would not be a pretty sight. So we had to tell them the news about me being pregnant. We didn't plan on telling anyone for a while, it's just the way I am.

I did the same thing with Aiden. I just want to make sure everything is OK before telling everyone the good news. So the day we flew in to Florida ,John took his dad out in the garage to tell him that I was pregnant and we wouldn't be able to go to Disney world. His dad was ecstatic and like, oh that's OK, we can do that later. So he went and told Xio (John's step-mom). Of course she was ecstatic too! The kids were a little disappointed because they wanted to go to Disney World, so I felt really bad about that.

So once they found out of course the topic of twins came up once again and I was saying, no it's not me. I swore I was so sick and tired this time because it was going to be a girl. Xio was said that she knew someone else was pregnant because she had a dream and there were 3 babies in it and she only knew of two pregnant people, so I must have been the other one.

Well, a couple of days later we were still in Florida and John's dad & Xio were making breakfast. We were having scrambled eggs so John's dad was just cracking a whole bunch of eggs into a big mixing bowl. All of the sudden they start talking and giggling and were like do you see this. So I walked into the kitchen and there is a set of twin yolks that came out of the one egg. Right away I'm thinking , oh no, another sign! So Xio says, " you know what that means?" and I reply no. So she said it means that someone in the room is pregnant with twins! Of course again I was like no, that's impossible (well not really, but you know).

So John's dad went down the run down of all of the twins on that side of the family and said Johnny, it's your generation to have them. They skip every other generation and it's now your turn.

We come home and have our first doctor's appointment. Everything was good and the doctor heard the heartbeat, one heartbeat. So I said, see I told you it was just one. Then a few weeks go by and we are laying in bed watching tv before going to sleep. It was the night before we had our second doctor's appointment and our first ultrasound. Anyway, we were flipping through the channels and there was one of those shows on about pregnant moms. I don't know if it was like special delivery or bringing home baby, I forget.

The girl that they had on there was really pregnant so we left it on for a few minutes. Here it turns out she was pregnant with 4 babies or so she thought but there was actually 5 and the 5th one was hiding behind some of the other babies and they didn't see it until the very end. So it was a show on multiples. I was just thinking, oh my gosh, I couldn't imagine having more than one.

Well, that leads us to the following day which was June 4th, you can read all about that in the blog titled "2nd Dr.s Appointment, 1st Ultrasound... It's TWINS!!!". There you have it! All of the signs that I was pregnant with twins! Call me crazy or whatever you want but I'm a firm believer in signs and I think there were plenty of them.

that is so awesome! good luck with your pregnancy! i had dreams that i was pregnant with each one of my pregnancies too! please come back and let me know if you have 2 babies baking in the oven! any baby is a blessing but twins are so much fun and a double blessing!

i was actually pregnant again in august 2009 with another set of twins but had a miscarriage at 9 weeks. i was so upset. when i first found out i was pregnant with twins i was in total shock! i had my son who was 3 the girls weren't even a year old. i had no clue how i would handle 5 little ones but once i thought about it... i knew i could do it! then they were taken away. i was devastated but still had 3 little ones that needed me so i needed to pick myself up and keep going. i still miss my angel babies with all of my heart and i hope that one day i get to meet them and be their mommy.

i actually had a dream last night that i was pregnant with twins again! so we'll see how that turns out :)

on christmas i had a sharp pain where my ovaries are so a few days later i made a doctors appointment. two nights before my appointment i had a dream that they did an ultra sound to check for cysts but instead found two babies, one boy and one girl. the next day i bought an at home pregnancy test to put my mind at ease only to discover 2 pink lines. we didnt tell the kids that day nor did we discuss anything with them and the following night my daughter had the same dream, one boy one girl. she didnt even know i was pregnant. i am only 5 weeks so i have a few more weeks before i see the doctor but i have a gut feeling there are 2 babies. lol

by: Lyne

People say having twins skips a generation, but it is not true. My mother is a twin and she had me & my twin (did not skip:)

by: Tillee

Hi there, this story is amazing. My husband is 1 of 4 boys and his older brothers are twins then there's my side of the family where my grandmother was an identical twin. Could you explain how i know if we are next in line to have twins?? I've always felt I want twins but I'm not sure if i'm next in line? At the end of the day whatever we have I am going to be over the moon.
COngratualtions on your new babies...How is the older one handling it??

twins from mommy only, daddy cant help in that department

twins are not always herieditary, but when they are it is from the ladies side. The husband has nothing to do with the twin thing. Think about it this way, he always sends out a full army, it has to do with how many eggs are there waiting on the army. It never has anything to do with the husband. He can pass it to his children so that they may have twins ( the girls ). Many things come into play with twins, older in age, just getting off birthcontrol, runs in family all kinds of stuff just never because they run in your husbands family. congrats on your family

it will be fine...

becca, i totally understand what you are saying. my son was born on august 3, 2006 so he was only a little over 2 years old when my twin girls were born. i was worried when i found out i was pregnant again and then when i found out it was twins i was scared to death! i was worried about the same things you are. my son is a complete momma's boy and is always by my side and he LOVES attention! i was so worried about how he would adapt to having the girls around and if he would get enough attention from us. to be completely honest with you, i think he adjusted to the girls arrival better than me and my husband did! we were shocked at how he jumped right in to the big brother roll. he is such a big help to us and we include him in everything with them. we'll say aiden can you do _____ to help mommy and then we priase him and tell him what a great big brother he is and we clap and stuff. he loves it! of course some days he does have an off day (don't we all) and he gets a bit jealous or if he wants something and we are with his sisters he'll say put her down now! it's awesome though having twins. it was a bit overwhelming in the beginning but it is so worth it! now aiden will be 3 years old in august and the girls just turned 6 months old may 20th and i couldn't be happier. i love my family more than anything in the world and feel truly blessed. they are my everything. whether you're pregnant with twins or a singleton, it will all work out. i do truly believe in the signs even though alot of people pass them off to be old wives tales. good luck with your pregnancy and please let me know how you make out with your ultrasound tomorrow :)

Another sign?
by: Becca

I'm 8 weeks pregnant. I don't want twins just because my son will only be 3 and I'm scared that he won't get enough attention. If we have them I'm sure it would work out fine, it just terrifies me. Twins run on my father's side. His mom had either twin brothers or sisters that died at birth. It skipped my dad's generation and it's it ours. My first cousin has twin boys (fraternal). I keep having dreams that I'm pregnant with twins! I keep getting the urge to google stuff about twins and I can't stop thinking that I'm carrying twins. I feel like I'm already showing a lot, especially for only 8 weeks. The fact that she said she kept having signs that she was carrying twins scares me. I keep having people say they think it's twins. Also, she had her first ultrasound that showed it was twins on June 4th. I'm scheduled to have my first ultrasound this Thursday....June 4th!!!
