Should we find out the twins sexes before birth?

by Bndupnorth

My Husband and I were very shocked to find out we were having twins. We decided that we would find out what we were having to better plan our selves. Now that the day is approaching we are both having second thoughts. We didn't find out for any of our singleton children. How important do you think it is to know?

Finding out the sexes
by: Destry

It is up to you and your husband. I always thought I would want to know, but the closer it got to the ultrasound the more I was having second thoughts. I (for whatever reason) thought for sure I was getting a boy and girl because I had no morning sickness or anything most people have. So I thought maybe if it is a boy/girl they cancel eachother out and I get no symptoms. That combined with the wives tales of lack of leg hair growing had me convinced. I went to a garage sale and bought boxes of clothes for both, bought a white crib especially for the girl ect. I got everything second hand because twins are so expensive I didn't see the point of spending thousands of dollars. Luckily I did this and didn't go too overboard because come to find out were having two boys!!! I am 5 months along now and still am really not showing, look more thick than pregnant. I am glad we found out because now I can focus on getting the few things we still need like more boy clothes. Also it took my husband and I about 2 weeks to decide on names. I wouldn't want to have to rush that because you will be calling/yelling those names for the rest of your life. Now all we have to do is figure out which name goes with which baby.

I thought maybe it would take away from the day by knowing what the sex was early, but that is the most special day of your life no matter if you know or not. It is the first day you meet your little people and fall in love. I really don't think it matters the sex because you will love them anyway and knowing ahead of time helps get things ready because you won't have a lot of time to do that afterward.

Yes we found out the sexes
by: Anonymous

Yes, we found out also-boy/girl. It was well worth it for planning and the shower gifts, I figured it was a surprise the day they told us or when we had them! It made the long pregnancy more fun.

we didn't and it was so nice...

We decided prior to knowing it was twins not to find out the sex. Then to our surprise twins, I wanted to find out but my husband convinced me to wait. I'm SO glad we did. It was very hard but well worth it, I suggest to anyone to wait there are so few surprises in life and the moment they tell you "it's a Boy and a Girl" like in our case is just the best moment ever. It does get REALLY hard to wait towards the end though seriously. You don't really need to plan they don't need to be in their nursery for a while after their born and they sleep so much at the beginning. You can do it all neutral or order it online afterwards and go from there. People bought us tons of boy girl outfits and sleepers after they were born, everyone brought something when they came to see the babies. It was so suspenseful for everyone even people we didn't know, it's amazing how it affects people. To each his own though do what you want and feel good about.

Surprise Yourselves
by: Anonymous

I did NOT find out what I was having when pregnant with my twins. It was one of the best days of my life when they held up my 1st baby GIRL (identicals so what ever the 1st so was the 2nd). I already had a son and was convinced the entire pergnancy that they were boys. So convinved I bought no new clothes as I figured I would just use my sons.
I guess there may be some medical reasons to find out but your ob would let you know if that was the case. My advice Keep it a Secret!!!So much excitment at delivery time. Good Luck

We found out with all of our pregnancies what we were having. The twins were our last, so going into the ultrasound I was thinking maybe I would not want to know, but I dont think i would have made it t the end not knowing. I am a planner.

RE: Finding out sexes before birth

I think that finding out the babies' sexes before birth is up to the parents and how they feel about it. In my opinion, I think that knowing the babies' sexes actually helps you bond with the babies even more and imagine them as individual male or female babies. But everyone has a different way of looking at it. Good luck to everyone on this site, and may you all be blessed with healthy babies.
