SCARY TWIN PREGNANCY !!!

by k
(england)

Hi at 4 weeks I started to bleed so was sent for a scan asap there was one empty sac so was told come back in 2 weeks .On returning they told us we were having twins. Me, my husband and mom couldn't believe it. But at my 11 week scan we were told that one baby was a week or more behind in size.

A consultant told us it is maybe because one twin as downs or edwards syndrome or he feels it could be vanishing twin .We were all devastated we have 3 healthy boys and me being 26 .We was so shocked and stressed the consultant wanted to do all sorts of tests which carried risks of losing them so we refused I did have a nt test which came back very low risk on both twins .The day of the amnio came and I refused as we decided we would love and look after our babies no matter what .

We then had a abormality scan done which showed a boy and girl the girl being the smaller twin but no abormalities shown. Consultant says I ain't out of the woods yet I'm 21 weeks now its been a terrible pregnancy so stressful as anyone else had I similar story would love you to reply thanks !!!

scary pregnancy

At my 20 week scan I was told that the nuchal fold test came back on both girls as abnormally thick. Twin A was 6.1 and Twin B was 5.5. We were told this usually means Down Syndrome at best and Turners or an equally terrible chromosomal issue at worst. We were advised to get an double amnio and a double fetal echocardiogram. The amnio carried a higher risk of miscarriage then the actual nuchal fold test and we decided we would care for the twins no matter the condition they were born in. We did however have the fetal echocardiogram which came back clear on Twin A but showed a bright spot on the heart in Twin B. The Dr. told us this wasn't a huge deal but was a soft marker of Down's. With that being said at 24 weeks we had nothing to do but worry and wait until the twins were born. Every night was spent on Google and Medical websites lookin up odds and any data, we called friends and family who new Dr's to get second opinions but when it came down to it all we could do was worry and wait. What a way to experience my last pregnancy and one filled with such blessings as twins!
So at 36 weeks and 5 days I went into labor with my twins. After a long but normal vaginal delivery I gave birth to two completely healthy girls both 7 and a half lbs each with no signs of any problems. The Dr's completely cleared them of any chromosomal issues and at 10 days old the only issues we suffer from are sleep deprivation!!
My advice to you as hard as it seems it to give it to God. Enjoy what you can of your pregnancy and the experience of carrying twins. I hope that your outcome is as positive as mine!
