Raising Twins advice put a mini-fridge in the nursery

by Ann Rollins
(Castle Rock)

When I was 32 weeks pregnant with twins, I went into pre-term labor. I was on full bed rest, with breaks only to use the bathroom. That was hard. My husband bought a mini fridge for water, fruit and my lunch so that it was right there where I needed it.

Once our twin girls were born the mini-fridge went into the nursery. I'd had a C-section, so the stairs were a real limitation post-surgery. Given bedrooms were upstairs and the kitchen was on the main level, the fridge upstairs was a lifesaver! My hubby would load the mini-fridge with water, fruit and my lunch, and I could use it to store pumped breastmilk, leftovers from formula bottles etc, and save the flight of stairs to the kitchen for dinnertime when I wanted to be down there cooking, etc. I also kept a bottle warmer in the twin nursery on top of the fridge, so I truly was self sufficient throughout the day and wasn't tempted to hit the stairs more than I should in those first few weeks.

I always recommend the mini-fridge to new twin moms. Regardless of whether or not you end up having a section, it's so handy to have to save steps to the kitchen, again, whether or not on the same level in the home.
