Zygosity
by: Mommy to 4

My twins were in seperate sacs but had one placenta. I have read in this situation, they are identical, however my girls don't look alike. Thinking about doing the swab testing myself!!

The only way to know for sure is genetic testing unless they are in the same sack or are different sexes. Di/di twins (2 sacks, 2 placentas) can still be identical if the egg splits very early in development.

Identical

Your doctor should be able to tell if you have one placenta or two. If there is just one and they are in one sack then they are identical. That is how it was explained to me when I was expecting my identical twin girls.

There are online dna/zygotsy tests availible online. I think they are around $150-200. You do a cheeck swab and then mail it in.

Also, did you have one placenta or two? If you had one placenta, most likely your twins are identical. If you had two placentas than most likely your twins are fraternal.
