Plus Sized Twin Pregnancy

by Angie B
(Madison, WI)

I'm a plus sized gal (5'7 225 non pregnant) and recently found out I'm having twins. Struggling with weight issues all my life, I'm having a very hard time with how quickly I've "popped" (this is my second), and knowing that I'm going to have to gain all that extra weight. I didn't have this issue with my first, I loved my baby belly, but this is really bothering me, making me feel like a fat cow, and making me enjoy this twin pregnancy less. Any wise advice? Any plus sized moms out there who are going/have gone through this?

Keep Your Head Up....
by: Etheena

My pregnancy weight was 264 and I am 5'10". During the course of my pregnancy I lost 30lbs due to extreme morning sickness. I wouldn't worry about the weight right now. Just focus on carrying your lovable babies. If you plan on breastfeeding them that will also help with the weight loss...

Plus size twin pregnancy
by: Carol

At this point, just focus on eating healthy and carrying the pregnancy as close to full term as possible. I had my twins 3 years ago at age 41. I gained 40 pounds during the pregnancy, but 2 months after delivery was 20 pounds lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight. (The twin pregnancy was after I already had 2 other children gaining 65 pounds with the first and 30 with the second.) However, it was only with the twin pregnancy that I had gestational diabetes and post-partum preclamsia. If I have any advice, it would just to take one day at a time. Now when I look at my beautiful healthy 3 year old girls, the pregnancy bloat is a very distant memory!

Right there with you :)
by: Melissa

OMG! I am right there with you! We seem to have been about the same size as well. I'm now almost 32 weeks and weigh 251 about a week ago. All I hear every single day is how huge I am and it really bothers me. I'm sorry I don't really have any great advice, but I can at least say I know how you feel! Hang in there! On top of it all I'm a single mom so I get stupid comments regarding that as well.
