JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE STILL OKAY AND ARE PROGRESSING AT A GREAT
PACE...MY QUESTION IS THIS...THEY TOLD ME THEY SHARED A PLACENTA AND WERE
SEPERATED BY A THIN MEMBRANE...I WAS SO SURPRISED AND IN SHOCK I FAILED
TO ASK WHAT THAT MEANS...ALSO I AM NERVOUS AND NOT SURE WHY..I HAVE HAD
THREE OTHER WONDERFUL CHILDREN 10,7,AND 3 ALL BY C SECTION AND EXCEPT FOR
SOME UGLY OUTCOMES WITH MY HEALTH AFTER THE LAST I BREEZED THROUGH...I AM
SCARED ABOUT EVERYTHING...HOW I MOVE AND BEND OVER AND EVEN WHAT I EAT...
I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN QUITE OVERWEIGHT BUT NEVER GAINED WITH THE OTHERS DUE
TO INTENSE MORNING SICKNESS WITH THE FIRST THREE..I AM SURE I AM GOING TO
GO WAY INSANE ON WEIGHT AND THAT SCARES ME...SORRY TO RAMBLE BUT I HAVE
SO MUCH RUNNING THROUGH MY MIND I CAN NOT EVEN DEAL WELL...I KNOW MOST OF
IT IS SILLY BUT SOMETIMES I CAN NOT QUIT WITH THE NERVES...ANYONE ELSE
FEEL THE SAME

by: Doreen

Congrats on your twins! I also was so in shock when I found out I was having twins that I forgot to ask the millions of questions going through my mind and like you I was nervous about everything I did because it took so long for me to get pregnant but I made it to 35 weeks and now I have my two beautiful babies and they are 9 months old. Feel free to ask me any questions and I'll try my best to answer them!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I know exactly how you feel... I found out i was having Mono-Di twins in my 12 week Downsyndrome testing. I almost fell off the table!!! Mono-Di's is what it sounds like you are having where they share a placenta but each have their own amniotic sac. I had a very good pregnancy, i gained 30 lbs with them and looked as if i was only carrying one. One thing that did keep me sane throughout the pregnancy was i saw a MFM/high risk doctor about every other week, only because they did share the same placenta. Ask your doctor about being referred to one. They are really great because they do extra sonograms and things throughout the pregnancy that will make you feel better. I also had two different birth plans, one for if i went into labor before i was 37 weeks and then one if i went past 37 weeks. GOOD LUCK, and if you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to shoot me a message!!!

CONGRATS!
by: Brenda

Congrats on your twin pregnancy!

I was nervous too when we found out we were having twins. We had two kids already and I was nervous on how we were going to handle 4 kids. Now our twins are 20 months old...and all works itself out. I wouldnt change any of it!

CONGRATS you are most likely having Identicals (our girls are identical). Sharing a placenta most likely means you are having identical twins. Dont worry about not asking...you were in shock. Just make sure when you go in for your next apppointment that you ask your OB. I found it helpful to write down my questions on a piece of paper and then bring it with me to my apts. Otherwise I would forget to ask. Something to ask is....if they have their own sacs (it sounded like it since they have a thin membrane seperating them, which is good).

You should join the raising twins forum! Lots of great information, advice, tips, and support from other twin parents to be and already twin parents!

Being pregnant with twins is exactly like what you just said. Everyday is a waiting game until the next doctor's visit or sono, just to make sure they are ok. Most likely they will be, but it is important for you to take care of yourself and definitely take those prenatals.

As far as sharing the same placenta with a thin membrane seperating the two, it means they are identical. So, two boys or two girls who share the exact same DNA. Your fertilized egg must have split within the first 3-8 days of fertilization. They have each developed their own amniotic sac but will share the placenta for nourishment.

Try to relax although it is very hard, I know. The best thing for you is to try and remain as stress free as possible and let nature take its course.

Good Luck!
