My twins were born today!

by Donna
(Chicago, IL)

I had my twin girls today via planned 38 week c-section at 10:45 and 10:46 am. I didn't know if they were fraternal or identical, and after birth they analyzed the placenta. They said they were fraternal. I think Makenzie looks more like my husband, and Katie looks more like me. I would put pictures up, but I didn't realize that my laptop was not compatible with my memory stick.

Makenzie Rae: 7 lbs, 5 oz, apgar score of 8, 19.5 inches

Katie Elaine: 6 lbs, 12 oz, apgar score of 9, 20 inches

I was so excited that they were so healthy without any complications.

I was so terrified of the c-section (actually, I was tearing up from fear as they wheeled me into the OR), but it was TOTALLY fine. The epidural was a little uncomfortable, but not painful. The "tugging/pulling" people describe didn't even feel that bad. It felt more like the doctor pressing on your stomach to feel the babies' positions. They wheeled me into recovery, and I was there for about an hour and a half. My parents and husband were in recovery (My husband was also in the OR of course). Then they took me to my room. The babies have slept the ENTIRE time except when they have eaten. I'm not breastfeading, so my husband, parents, and I have all taken turns feeding them.

I have been vomiting several times, so they won't let me eat anything or drink anything. I AM SO THIRSTY!!!! I don't know when they will let me drink some water. I hope soon.

Congrats on your little angels!!!! Glad everything went so good! I also had a C-section 4 1/2 wks ago and like you was scared out of my mind, and everything also went fine with mine as well...i also had a tubal. Glad the babies are healthy. Hope mommy gets to feeling better soon!!!! Try and rest, but walk when and as much as you feel you can, it really helps with recovery, it may not seem like it but it does! Good luck!
