My b/g twin story! Born at 35 weeks

My b/g twin story! Born at 35 weeks

When I first found out I was pregnant I was so happy. Though I was young (20 at the time) I knew I was ready for this pregnancy, or so I thought. A week after I found out I was pregnant, I went into the bathroom and noticed there was a little blood. Immediately I panicked thinking I was going to miscarry. My fiance rushed me to the hospital. The doctor also seen blood so they took me in for a sonogram. I was so early that they could barely see anything.(6 1/2 weeks) And then the woman said to me okay I see a heartbeat. I was so relieved and happy. Then she says, "wow there's two heartbeats. did you know you were having twins?" For a second I felt like I couldn't breathe because I went into the hospital thinking I lost the pregnancy then to find out I'm having two!

I was alone when she told me and I started crying. I couldn't believe how lucky I was. When they brought me back to my room my mom and fiance were standing there expecting the worst. I told them we were having twins and immediately both of them started crying. Everyone was overjoyed. My pregnancy in the beginning was a very easy one. No morning sickness. As the pregnancy went along the heavier I got and the more my back began to bother me. (I also had scoliosis surgery when I was younger) So the pressure on the rods in my spine began to be too much. Everything was going good until about 29 weeks. I started having a lot of pressure and pain so I went to the hospital. My OBGYN came in to check me out. She found I was 2 CM dialated and was concerned. They immediately put me on the T-pump. She told me I had to try to make it to 35 weeks to reduce the time if any they would have to spend in the NICU. So for the rest of my pregnancy I was on bedrest. The day I hit the 35 week mark I started having complications from the t-pump and within an hour of removing it i started to contract. My fiance rushed me in and when the doctor got there she said, "i think it's time they come out to meet their mommy." I didn't know if I was ready, I was scared. There was also another problem. Because of where the rods are in my spine they didnt know if I would be able to have a spinal. I might have to be out cold when they deliver the babies. I was very upset. However the doctor managed after two attempts to place the spinal and I was able to be awake while they delivered the babies. Even though I didn't make it all the way to full term, at 35 weeks my son was born 6 lbs 3 oz and my daughter 6 lbs.

So to all those strong pregnant women carrying twins, be proud of yourself and keep faith that you'll have an amazing pregnancy. Nothing is perfect and complications sometimes happen, but you're all strong, wonderful women! Good luck!
