Love the special bond between twins

Not a spectator anymore ....Everyone knows of the special bond between twins but sadly not everyone gets to experience it first hand. I'm one of the lucky ones, like many of you I have twins of my own and for that I know I am truly blessed! There are many things that make twins so great, in fact way too many to list. My boy / girl twins are 10 months old now and I have the pleasure of melting everyday when two pairs of eyes and two hands wave at me over the top of their playpen or clap for me when they are singing and giggling in their highchairs. It is highly amusing to watch my daughter (who is the heavier of the two) patting and bouncing on my sons back as he lies on his tummy. We watch thinking that she is very rough with him at times but he loves it and giggles, the rougher it is the harder he giggles! I love it when she gets hic-cups and they both giggle each time one surfaces! I love it when both of them come crawling to me at the same time and try and pull themselves up one on each leg smiling at and dribbling on me (darn that teething lark!!!) I love it when one of them learns something new and the other one, not to be out done will spend the rest of the day trying and will have cracked the skill the very next day and they'll enjoy doing whatever it is together. I love how they are so similar yet so different and I enjoy watching them learn and grow, love and laugh every day. It is certainly life's greatest pleasure. We have our tough times but these are easily dealt with and forgotten because it takes just one smile, one cuddle or one giggle to make that hectic morning, that sleepless night, that floor covered in food or vomit to disappear from thought and make you realise you are the luckiest person on this planet!

These are all magical things however, the greatest thing about twins (for me at least) is that I am no longer a spectator of life, I am a participant in it. These days my house is never empty, my inbox is always full, my camera card is overflowing and my shopping trips take three times as long not due to the extra load but because we're stopped by so many lovely people who want to look and ask about the twins. I am now part of a very special club where I meet new friends and can easily chat with people on the other side of the world whom I haven't even met simply because we have that glorious connection. I have this because of these two amazing little people, these sweet little beings who have absolutely no idea how much they are loved and how much pleasure they bring to me, to their daddy, our families and friends and even to strangers in the street! I carry a lot of extra wrinkles around my eyes these days because of the number of times I laugh and smile everyday. We have a great deal to thank them for just because they're here. William and Lily .... Mammy loves you!!!!
