Labor with Twins

This is my first twin pregnancy. I have had two singleton births though. My first labor, I did not feel any contractions even though I was having them one right after the other. The doctor broke my water I was only 1 1/2 cm dilated. Crazy? The nurses thought so. Then I felt everything. I gave birth six hours later. My second labor I went to the hospital and was checked, I was 3 cm dialated and my water was bulging. The on call doctor sent me home. 10 mins later I was on my way back to the hospital, my water broke in the Taco Bell drive thru. I delivered my second daughter 3 1/2 hours later. I was wondering if labor will be cut in half this time? Or is it completely different with twins?

My Twin Labor
by: Anonymous

With my first singleton pregnancy, my water broke at home at 2:37am. I got to the hospital and was checked by 5am and I was already at 5cm. My son was born at 8:23am - with just under 6 hours of labor. My second pregnancy was with twins. I did go into labor early, they were born at 33 weeks and 2 days. I went in for a routine appt and was sent down to labor and delivery for extra tests. After an exam I was told that I was completely closed and the dr didn't think I was in labor, but because I had swollen so much and gained 10 pounds in a week they wanted to check everything. As I was waiting for tests and laying in a bed, my water broke at 4:15pm. I felt nothing but back pain on my right side which I had already had, then of course the contractions got a little more intense. My son was born at 5:59pm and my daughter at 6:06pm. I would say that twin labor goes faster!
