If I make it to 35 weeks with twins can I have them at my regular hospital

by Eve
(Wisconsin)

I've been told by my doc. that if I make it to 28weeks my twin girls will have a good survival rate. However I have also been told if I have them at 32 weeks to 34 weeks I have to go to a special hospital that specializes in that, if I make it to 35 weeks I can have them at my reg. doc. I am also considred a high risk. So confusing and worriesome about where I am having them. They also do ultrasounds at every 4weeks. And they are doing well so far.

Hospital

We have an awesome NICU and labor and delivery dept. at our local hospital. They are able to handle preemies very young. I have a friend that is a NICU nurse there.

You keep those babies cooking. The longer they stay in the womb, the better off they are and the less likely they will go in the NICU and go home with you.

making it to 35 weeks
by: Jennifer

It is the same way here if I made it to 35 weeks then my babies could be born in the Hospital here in my town, but if I was to deliver before than they would have to be born like 2 hours away. I was worried too, but I made it to 38 weeks and they were born here via c-section and healthy and went home 2 days later. I was considered High risk too, but I think all twin pregnancies are considered high risk. I was seeing a speacalist and an OB each every two weeks and having ultrasounds every 2 to 4 weeks...Our babies shared a placenta.... I think you need to take it one day at a time, and only worry about getting through that day. Thats what I did. Took it one day at a time... Good luck, stay posititive.

delivery

I was told the same thing because the hospital that we wanted to deliver at did not have the capabilities to deal with severely premature babies. Once we made it past 35 weeks, our OB scheduled our c-section at the hospital that we wanted to deliver at.
Hang in there and keep cookin' those babies!
