Identical twins that don't look so identical

I have 5 week old identical twin girls. There is no doubt that they are identical. They shared a placenta, were in the same amniotic sac, and had a barely visible membrane separating them. They were being monitored for Twin-Twin transfusion Syndrome at different times during the pregnancy. Now that they are here, there are some very obvious differences. Twin B is about a pound larger than Twin A, their heads have very different shapes and their faces look different. They do have the same coloring, noses, and mouths. I am just wondering if any other identical twin parents have experienced anything like this and if so when they started to look more identical?

Mine looked very different at first too
by: Julia

I have identical twin boys who are now just over 2 years old. They look much more alike now than they did when they were newborn. I really thought they were fraternal as well; despite sharing the same features, they looked so different.

They were the same size when they were born, but their heads were shaped differently, making their features seem quite different. Their heads are still different shapes, but with a full head of hair, it's become more difficult to tell them apart from behind. I find myself calling out both of their names when I want to get one of their attention!

Identical
by: Brenda

We have 22 month old Identical twin girls. Baby A (Raegyn) has always been a pound heavier than Baby B (Rylee) and their faces are different shapes. I think this has alot to do with one being heavier than the other. As they are getting older and as Rylee is catching up to Raegyn in weight, their face shapes are starting to become more and more alike.

CONGRATS on your newest additions to your family!

our boys are identical too, but we just don't feel it 100%.. the have the same hair, noses, ears, toes, fingers, but have a slight difference in their faces, like one is more rounded.
we had doubts untill we did a DNA test and they confirmed that the are identical.. most of the people can't tell them apart except for the people who know them well (sometimes they mix them)
but I think parents always can tell the difference of their identical twins, so they don't feel that they are really identical..
