How to stop breastfeeding twins?

by Olga
(Malden, MA)

I have twin girls. They are 13 months. One is bottlefed and the other breastfed. I am having trouble stopping breastfeeding. I tried gradually giving the bottle instead of the breast but did not work. My baby girl just plays with the bottle and looks for the breast. They are already eating solids and I thought that once they would be doing this that she will do less breastfeeding. Any suggestions?

Well I am not a mother of twins but I am a breastfeeding mom and have been for the last 5 years.. due to having 3 children that are each 18 months apart! I would encourage you to let her nurse 13 months is still young and my last child stopped at 2! The American academy of pediatrics recommends till 2! It doesn't hurt for her to have all that live nutrition! Even if you just let her go till 1 1/2! My youngest is 18 months and nursing 3 x's a day b, l, before bed.. and I'm pregnant with what we think may be twins! Though my personal opinion is I wont go further than 2.. everyone is different though!
