How to handle twin babies crying at the same time?

by Jennifer

How do you solve the problem of not enough arms?

A close friend of mine is having twins, and I have the pleasure of getting to be her daycare provider when she goes back to work. I am very concerned about neglecting them... I mean one is crying so you hold them then the other starts crying...or not giving enough snuggle time to both. I guess I just want to make sure one isn't crying while tending to the other.

OF STEEL! You can learn to hold to babies at once. I can put our twins to sleep in my arms at the same time and they are 14 months. Plus a sling or infant carrier will help as you can put one in it and the other in your arms. It was fairly rare for both of our girls to be crying at the same time. Good luck!

2 Crying Babies

If one is crying more or louder (and maybe one is only whining), hold and calm the one that is making LESS noise. This sounds incorrect, but the last thing you want is two babies screaming at the top of their lungs. If you calm the louder one first, the other will escalate into a full blown scream in no time!

It is enevitable that one will be crying while tending to the other. As long as you do your best, the babies will adjust. Any mom of twins is just going to tell you that you can only do what you can do. You will find a routine or a peace of mind in the chaos....IT WILL BE OK :)
