How many women go full term with their twin pregnancy?

by Angela
(PA)

I am currently 15 weeks pregnant with twins. I'm so worried I will
go into labor too early. I know full term is considered 37-38 weeks when you're expecting twins.
How many woman make it to the full term? I am 29 and overall pretty
healthy.

I had a great pregancy just tired(3yr old) then at 36 weeks started getting really swollen and ended up with pre eclampica. They were healthy and came home with us when i left. Just all depend on what your babies and body want.

14% of twin pregnancy are born 38 weeks or after. "Average" is 35 week. I had our girls at 34 weeks and they were only in the NICU 7 days (Would have made them 35 weeks) So aim for that, you can make it and with technology anything is possible. Just have faith, all will work out!

It's up in the air
by: Lieucretia

I'm 32 and carried my twins to 39 weeks then they finally decided they were ready to come out. No bedrest no problems nothing, all natural vaginal delivery too. It's really up in the air though you just never know. My cousin had a great twin pregnancy as well but hers came at 36 weeks, no biggie they were healthy and fine. Don't stress about it, just go with the flow you really NEVER know when they'll decide to come. I was 4cm dilated and 80% effaced the last 2 weeks of my pregnancy and they still took their sweet time.

38 Weeks and 2 days

I went 38 +2 days and was not on bed rest or anything. I was induced at this point, mostly because my doctor said once I get to that point, there is no reason to go any further. Good Luck!

36+2

I delivered at 36weeks and 2days. Everything was good until I hit 36weeks and my blood pressure went sky high. I was able to bring it down a couple times, but the last time we couldn't so my Dr. induced me. I delivered both of my boys vaginally and it was the best experience ever. Twins are a blessing and alot of work, but it gets easier as they get older. Congrats on your twins

I asked the same question since most on here delivered between 31 and 39 weeks. My doc told me that if I didn't go into labor before then I would be scheduled for a c-section at 38 weeks. Which I feel is more realistic due date than 40 weeks. I am currently 28 weeks and am really starting to feel them pack on the pounds now. Up to this point I thought "man this isn't so bad maybe I can make it to 40 weeks" but once they start putting on their fat layers it gets much more difficult to move around and do anything. I am thinking now I will be lucky if I don't get put on bed rest. Only because that os about the only thing I can do that is comfortable right now. Plus since they are so much bigger now seems like they are sucking all my energy out. Friday I got off work and went to bed at 7:00 because I was so tired, and didn't get out of bed until 11:00 the next day. then had to take a nap around 5:00.

We made it to 38+2 weeks and a scheduled c-section (my choice) after 12 long weeks on modified bed rest. I'm pretty sure our girls would have stayed in past 40 weeks if we let them, I was not contracting or dilated at all!

Dont worry too much!
by: Jennifer

I would not worry about it too much. I know some tin come early, but if you focus on it one day or one month it is not so stressful.
I carried my girls till 39 weeks to the day. They were born via scheduled c-section due to them being breech.
Hang in there, you can do it too. Rest and drink lots and lots of water.
