How do I get my one twin toddler to stop waking up?

by Sue
(nj)

I have two and a half year old twin toddler boys. My one son wakes every night at least once a night and behaves irrationally. I have to leave the room and calm him down in order to not wake my other son. Some people tell my to let him cry but I don't feel it is fair to my other son to have to listen to it. I cannot remove the other child because I don't have the room and I don't want to put him in my room because I am afraid I will ruin how well he sleeps. What can I do? Please help because I feel like because there is two of them in the room my son knows I don't want to wake the other one and he takes advantage. Any advice?

also a parent of twin boys
by: Mom of Twins

we had a similar issue with one of our boys. he kept waking up and we think it is because he was having trouble with his 2 year molers coming in early. he had been a fussy teether with his beginner teeth, and his molers were no picnic. we did not let him cry during the night b/c (out of fear) we did not want him to wake up our other son. my husband and I took turns rocking him, feeding him & praying that he would sleep :) until he actually went to sleep. Now that they are 1 1/2 year, they are finally both sleeping through the night.

My son did the same thing he's not a twin though but he has a lil brother (soon they will have twin siblings lol) but anyway. He woke up maybe 2am and would scream and cry and he would throw things and all that when he was two or so. I learned that I had to feed him something usually it was a pb&j sandwhich with milk usually he ate it on his own if not (I wasn't being mean but I had to do it to calm him down) I had to take a piece and put it into his mouth pretty much force feeding then he would eat it on his own and go back to sleep. Maybe that will help you good luck!
