sleeping problems
by: kirsty and barry

We have 4 year old twins and they still wake up every night at least twice and at worst all night it is 1.47am and i have seen to them 6 times now and my wife has seen to them 3 im going to try the water instead of juice hopefully that works but they like water .
they have woke up every night since they were 2 years and it was alot worse then one of our daughters would scream at us to sit at the bottom of her bed and for a while my wife had to sleep in thier room most nights for about six months we almost5 feel like crying sometimes.

bedtime is bedtime!!!
by: sobian

Hello!
I have three year old twin girls. Which now are a nightmear to get to sleep as they use every excuse to stay awake aswell as keeping each other awake! my girls started sleeping through the night when they were about 4months old. I gave them a larger feed and used hungry baby milk before they went to bed at about 10pm so they dint wake up untill about 3ish because their tummies were fuller(before they would wake every 3/4 hrs) but when they did wake up they used to mess about with their feed, they didnt seem that interested so I started giving them water!! and they just stopped waking up for a feed in the middle of the night (I no its a bit naughty! but it worked) they woke up about 6/7am . because they stopped waking up for a feed in the night they ALWAYS had a rusk n the morning or baby rice for breakfast and half a normal feed (so they were still having enough food)they also had story before bed (I no its a little young! but i started as i ment to go on!)they had a musical light in their room too that was on at bed time and if they did wake in the night (which they did occasionally for nappy change or sometimes water) the music got put back on. I feel im quite strict as we tryed not to get the girls out and cuddle them when they cryed as they become wise to it (they have plenty of cuddles during the day) obviously if they were hysterical we didnt leave them. I didnt give the girls the option of feeding at different times, if one was asleep it got woken up to feed at the same time or minutes after(my midwife wasnt very happy though! you never wake a sleeping baby she would say) but this worked brilliantly as when i had finished feeding them both at the same time a got alot of sleep because they would BOTH be asleep untill feed time again!!! It is really hard when they are little but it will get easier. Not everyone will agree with giving water instead of a feed in the night but it worked for me and my girls are fine! will just say that my girls were very healthy and at the right weight when they were 4 months old otherwise if they were slightly underweight or anything i wouldnt of stopped a feed during the night. hope ive helped. xx

Twins sleeping
by: Angel Rodrigues

I have 20 month old twins. They sleep 12 hours, with few interruptions - NOW! But let me tell you its been a long road to haul. I had one with acid reflux and the other had colic, so up and down was the name of the game in the middle of the night. Did I mention I have a 4 year old as well? He was 2 1/2 when they were born. I had to adopt to musical beds at night. I agree with the other comments....lullaby music and so on. I put a radio in a central location, so everyone can hear it, but not within reach, the Baby Einstein Mozart Lullaby CD on repeat. It works so well now that I just put it on and they are asleep in minutes. They are trained to sleep now, but that is what your babies haven't learned yet. They need to be taught to sleep with cues. Start now and you will have no problems in the long run and the 4 year old will learn to sleep through it all or find a way to sleep. Even if its on the couch.

Try.....
by: Anonymous

Do you have them on the same schedule?

Try some soothing music, mobile with some music and lights. When our girls were 3-4 months old they wouldnt sleep more than 6 hours either. Just take it day to day and go with the flow. When they are about 4 months you will be able to give them some rice cereal to help fill their tummies. You just have to remember that they dont have very big tummies and they get hungy every 3-4 hours. You will eventually get your sleep back...just enjoy the time when they are this little.

Sleep through the night
by: Christina (Minnesota)

My little girl started to sleep through the night at about a month but we were still getting up with him. I think he started at about 3 months. But every now and then they get up. But last night they both went to bed about 8-8:30pm and I had to wake them up to go to daycare at about 7ish. But they sleep pretty dang good. I think the back ground music helps ALOT!

babies sleeping through the night
by: Wendy

I forgot to mention they are already in the 10 to 12 pound range. I do get a 6 hour span every now and then, it is just not the same six hours for both babies. We are not opposed to the idea of letting them cry it out, that is just hard in the middle of the night with our son sleeping in same room.

4 months
by: Anonymous

They really dont start sleeping through the night until about 4 months of age. And even then it can be once or twice up for a feeding. I truly believe until they have reached about 10-12 lbs is when they will sleep longer.

Just enjoy the time you have with them now and dont make them grow up faster cause pretty soon you are going to be wanthing them to be this small...sleep is over rated right?

We are Christian so we have it on the christian station. that way we now that they are listioning to good stuff though the night.
