help with twins please

by Lauren De Ross
(Melbourne Australia)

My 4 month fraternal twin girls have just now started having a very foul patch each afternoon from around 5pm until 7ish (arsenic hour I believe). My routine was working well with a bath at 5.30pm followed by a feed at 6pm, quiet time and then bed at 7pm but all of a sudden from 4.30pm/5pm the grizzles start slowly building until by the time they get out of the bath they are hysterical (both of them).

The past 2 days I didn’t even try to bath them and they were still screaming from 5pm on. They seem to calm down when I hold them, but obviously this is only helping one at a time as they are too big to hold together and as soon as I put one down to tend to the other its just a tag.

I’ve tried the swing, rockers, and the baby harness, but these don’t work. Walking in the pram worked temporarily, but when I stop to feed its game on again. Short of getting a second pair of hands at this time which isn’t really an option, have you got any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks and regards

teething??
by: Traci

it might be gas or colic but i think it's a little odd that either one of them all the sudden just came on. my one daughter was colic but in the beginning months. gas could happen if there has been a change of food i guess but it could also be the teething. my girls were born on november 20, 2008 and they are both already teething. they are about 4 1/2 months old. my one daughter already got her first tooth about 2 weeks ago and my second daughter hasn't had one poke through yet but she is chewing on everything and drooling really bad. for the teething we use either the hylands teething tablets, tylenol, or baby oragel. i hope your girls feel better soon. i know how stressful it can be on the mommy. hang in there and good luck!

Colic?
by: Anonymous

Have you taken them to your doctor to see if they have colic? If not than maybe they have gas or are teething (which is pretty early for teeth). Gas drop help. I give my girls Mylicon sometimes before eating and it helps them with gas.

Same thing!

Our twins will be 4 months tomorrow, and from around 5:30 to 8 they cry and scream. I have notices that their gums have white things (looks like teeth!) so I have figured their gums hurt and I bought some teething numbing gel, teething tables, and tylenol. Seems to help a little. Eventually they get tired and go to sleep until their next feeding. You may want to ask their dr if that is the problem. GOOD LUCK!
