Help with one twin baby not sleeping through the night anymore!

by Elaine Adler
(Pembroke Pines, Fl. USA)

I have 5 1/2 month old twins boy/girl. They were born at 29 weeks so they are preemies. They have been sleeping through the night since they were about 3 months old. all of sudden my baby girl wakes up several times throughout the night.

It usually starts at around 2 and then every hour after that. She does got back to sleep if I put the pacifier in her mouth but when it gets to be about 5:30 she is not having it anymore and wants to get up but of course my boy is still sleeping. I never know what to do because I feed them at the same time. I tried putting rice cereal in their milk thinking that was it but she is still doing it. What can I do? I don't want to feed them at different times I just want her to go back to sleeping until 7:30 A.M. Please help!!

Phase
by: Brenda

Our girls did it too around 6 months of age. Its a phase. I think kids have growth spurts and teething usually starts around then as well and it effects their sleeping.

They also are growing so maybe she needs to eat some more and may wake up during the middle of the night hungry. They usually say not to put rice cereal in their bottles becuase it can clog them. But you can sure start feeding them rice cereal by spoon and they can start eating baby food to help fill up their tummies.

Hang in there and this phase will pass.
