help with baby twin night time feedings

by Jennifer Hall
(Muskegon, MI)

I have twins that are now one month old. They were born 32 wks premature. Does anyone have any tips for night time feedings? They have to be fed every three hours but I can't seem to keep them on the same schedule. I need some sleep!!

Night time feedings
by: Anonymous

Our girls are almost 10 weeks, and for the first 2 months (8 weeks), I would nurse the girls at the same time, so if one woke up I would wake the other. At about 8.5 weeks the girls started sleeping between 4-6 hours the first stretch of the night so I now just nurse them when they wake up on their own. I was freaking out the first weeks because I was so tired but it really, truly gets better and easier. I just remind myself that they haven't been here for that long and that this stage is temporary. In the beginning I tried to catch little cat naps in between feedings, laundry etc. Hang in there!

i did it this way!

I used to feed the one who woke first, have my husband on standby if the other woke during feeding baby A, and when Baby A was done i would put him back to bed then start on baby B. Because my husband is in the military and works away alot when he wasnt there i would bring them both out and put them in the rockers, start feeding baby A and if baby B woke i would rock him with my foot while finishing of then start with baby B. If baby A takes a little time to settle after the feed then i would rock him while feeding baby B.
When they got older i learnt that one would always be happy to wait but the other would scream down the house!
It gets easier!
good luck

Keeping them on the same...
by: Anonymous

To keep the babies on the same schedule you will need to have them both awake to feed them. If one wakes up more than the other...you will need to wake the one up that likes to sleep. I know...my mother in law always said "Never wake a sleeping baby" but its easy to say that when you have ONE baby not TWO.
