Getting enough sleep with twin babies

by CLF
(London)

I have 5 month old identical twin boys, one of which is a great sleeper, the other isn't!!

They both fall asleep easily on their own but the bigger twin constantly wakes and when he is left to cry it can go on and on and on for hours disturbing his brother. I feel I have done everything right in that they aren't fed or rocked to sleep, but sill one wakes constantly...and it only seems to be getting worse.

What do I do??????

Remember....
by: Anonymous

That us mother OR father must sacrifice our sleep for our babies sometimes.

Letting them cry for a few minutes is fine but they also need comforting when they cry. Just letting them cry all night will only make you stressed out and will make him need moms hugs and kisses to calm him down.

Dont get frustrated. Just keep trying different things until you find what works. Whether its a binky/pacifier, a special blankey, music in their room, a new mobile, a night light...etc.

Still waking
by: CLF

The boys have a good bedtime routine. We bathe them then take them straight into the bedroom for a massage then milk then bed, also one has a dummy and the other sucks his thumb. I cant think of any reason why they are still waking, they are now nearly 7months and have 3 meals a day. I think i might need to let them cry at night!!!!!!!! Not looking forward to that.

Binkies?
by: Shelly Cunningham

Also, your babies may like to have a binky at night for sucking. It could be that they are waking up for sucking, not eating.
Don't you wish they came with a manual?

Have you tried...
by: Anonymous

I have identical twin girls..Have you tried bathing him and playing with him right before he goes to bed? Sometimes playing with them gets them stimulated and then bathing him right before he goes to bed gets them relaxed. Just remember that even they will have their own sleeping habits. Their is nothing wrong rocking them to calm them down and putting them asleep.

Teeth?
by: Anonymous

Maybe baby boy is teething?? Have you tried Hyland's Teething Tablets or anything like that? Some say 5 months is too early for teething, but my daughter got 2 teeth at 4 1/2 months. ;)
