Gaining weight fast in twin pregnancy -is it normal?

Hi Everyone,
I am 10 1/2 weeks pregnant with fraternal twins and I am having a bad hormonal day about my weight. I am 5'7 and was somewhat normal weight pre-pregnancy (maybe 10 pounds or so heavier then normal.) And now I seem to have gained 9 pounds so far. I have been eating healthy for the most part-but just eating a bigger quantity. I feel nervous that the weight gain with twins happening so fast. I know they say it happens quick with twins.. But this quick??? Please share your stories and let me know if this is normal? Any words of advice or own experiences would be soooo helpful.

Thank you! :)

same worries as you
by: Anonymous

Hi congrats on your news and just wanted to say I think this is a total normal concern and its one i've had from the moment i found out I was having twins. I am 20wks pregnant and currently about 18lbs heavier, I was at an check up last week and was told this is totally normal and healthy so please dont worry. I normally work out by doing 4 gym classes a week and am still managing them so feel i am doing what I can but Im just more hungry and therefore taking in more calories. Im telling myself not to worry having/ carrying twins is an amazing experience that not many people get to experience and after birth will be so busy (i have a 6 year old too) that I will soon get the weight down!! please enjoy the experience your going through it maybe a once in a lifetime one for you! Good luck. x

I am also 10 1/2weeks. I've gained 8 pound since before my pregnancy I am all belly and can't button my pants. I thought it was so weird till my doctor told me it was completely normal. This is my first pregnancy and i have been so scared with having twins my first time! Good luck.

The babies are gaining the weight
by: Anonymous

Congratulations it sounds like you have done a great job of taking care of yourself and your body is feeding those babies. I am 5'2 always been around 120lbs lean and I gained lots of weight around the 4th month then at the 6th and then blew up late 7th/early 8th They were born 1 month early. I have always worked out but during pregnancy I only walked and did tons of water aerobics. I want to say I was around 180 on birth day AHHHHH I was soooo swollen and it was not preeclampsia.
Im down to about 125lbs I am back to running/spinning and living life kind of like before they were born....it took me about 3 months to loose all the weight but atleast a year to tighten my muscles.
All I want you to know is I completely understand I would worry and almost feel selfish at times but everything went Great my boys were 6lbs each. Thinking back now it's amazing what my body and hormones went through and were able to accomplish.
Congrats again and I can't wait to see the pics of those beautiful babies when they are born!
