Dizziness and Twin pregnancy

by Alicia
(Paradise, Ca, USA)

I am 16 weeks pregnant with twins. I no longer have the morning sickness.

Thank you for all your support before. I have been having what my doctor has called "fainting fits". Though I have not completely passed out. I have noticed I get shortness of breath, light headed, eye sight starts to fade to black, dizziness, ears ring, or when I talk it sounds like I am talking with my fingers in my ear. At night I notice when I am laying in bed my head is just thumping with my heartbeat, to the point I feel like it is shaking my head, and I feel like I am spinning on a tilt-a-whirl. I have been in the grocery store and it hits me, I had the shortness of breath, pounding in my chest, dizziness, difficulty to walk and then I break out into a sweat. Yes I have had the sharp pain in my lower belly. My doctor has stated that I could have hypertension.

I am taking my blood pressure every day, till my next appointment in a month, especially when I have one of these fits. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? If so did it turn out to be anything else. I have had two previous singleton pregnancies. And never anything like this before. I am very healthy, pre pregnancy I am 5'8" 135, now I am only 141 lbs. Is there anything else I can do? I understand I need rest, and I rest as much as possible with a 1 1/2 year old and a 2 1/2. Thank you again for your help and support.

Me too! How strange. i am pregnant with twins, still early days for me at 6 weeks and 3 days. I have been signed off work for a few weeks as my morning sickness is pretty bad and I am beyond exhausted. I have noticed the last few days that I go all tingly and dizzy, the edges of my vision become fuzzy and I get pins and needles in my fingers. I am totally relaxing as well as the nanny is still having my other 2 children so I can just lie and be sick!! I find my sickness gets worse when i get active. Roll on week 12 I say!!! Glad to hear I am not alone!! 28/01/11

I am 24 weeks pregnant with twins as well and like yourself have had two singleton pregnancies. I have an 8 year old girl and a 3 year old girl. I have actually been experiancing similar symptoms. I get very dizzy at times and feel like I'm going to faint. Occasionally my heart will pound so hard I feel as though I'm having a heart attack and so I simply breath through it. It is very difficult for me to rest with little to no help and two children one of which has been in and out of the hospital the past few months with some pretty bad stomach issues. Today my balance was affected and I couldn't walk strait. My drs have said that everything seems okay but every once and a while my thyroids will get high which the said is the reason for the heart thing. I know that I could surely drink more water but its hard for me. I'm having identical twin boys and for some reason the they do not like when I drink water. Perhaps all of these symptoms are common with twins but it doesn't make it easier. Any how its nice to know that I'm not the only one. If you ever want to chat feel free to email me at roche147@gmail.com. My name is stephanie

When I was in the begining stages of pregnancy I did not know I was having twins. I would get so dizzy I would throw up. My head would pond and make me feel more sick. I was waiting to get insurance at the time so I could not go to the doctor, once I did it slowed down. Still had them every once and a while, but not as bad. I had to sit down to take a shower or bath. We lived in a loft and by the time I got up the stairt to where the bathroom and bedroom was I was so out of breath I had to sit down for about 5-10 mins trying to catch it. It may be your hormones. After about 20 weeks it went away and I was feeling much better. Good luck!
