caring for identical twin girls?

by Marti
(Columbus, Ohio, USA)

This is my first time having twins. I already have a nine year old son. My question is, is there anything any different that I need to know about caring for my twins as I did for my son when he was born? I know it will be x's two double duty, but do I do anything any different?

I am very sorry but I have a different opinion, having twins and having a singleton is VERY different!! Twins is soooo much harder, so much more work, etc. Everything is double...I thought it would be a piece of cake since I thought that with my singleton it was easy, but it's not with twins. Make sure you have lots of hands around...ohhh man is it harder when you breast feed!! Mine are 3 months old and they don't take the bottle..in a way I feel good about breast feeding but then theres times I get a little depressed because I feel I have no time to myself, but then again I look at it in a positive way. I know this is temporary and I know it will pay off in the future knowing my babies are healthy and feeding from the best! Think about it, double the baths, double the feedings, double the washing!!! Grrr It has gotten easier though but Jesus is it hard!! Well, Good luck!!

Caring for i.d girls
by: Sharon Stratton

Hey congrats on your twins!! welcome to the world of twinsanity lol.. just kidding its not that bad, the first year is crazy but after that it alot easier, (mine are 16months now, i.d boys). I didnt do anything different (also have 1 12 year old boy and 5 month boy) but i can say it was harder to get into the swing of things! For example bath times is pretty hectic and i found it hard to enjoy it, (i always enjoyed bathtime & baby massage with my singlton) and things like getting out is a bit of a juggling act & everybody wants to stop and talk about the twins, so be sure to include your other child in the introductions.
So really you dont need to do anything different but its a whole different ball game, having twins means you witness something that only a mother of twins will see, the little language only they understand, the giggles they have with one another and the pure love they have for eachother at such an early age.
Good luck Keep us informed!
