Bed Rest @ 31 Weeks Pregnant with Twins

I'm 31 weeks pregnant with twins - boys and the Dr just put me on bed rest this week. He said I was starting to dilate just tiny bit. I'm wondering if any other Mom's were put on bed rest at this point and how long you were able to keep the twin babies in there? I'm scared I will deliver early-I want them to stay in there as long as possible!!

I was put on moderate bed rest at 7 weeks gestation due to high blood pressure, heart rate, and bleeding. At 18 weeks I was put on strict bed rest because I went into pre-term labor.I dilated to a 4 and was 75% effaced when they finally got the labor to stop. I had to be careful since I was dilated so much already. I was able to keep them in till 35 weeks. They had no health problems at all and didn't spend any time in NICU.

I was also put on bed rest at the start of my 31st week, was given steroid shots for lung development, and delivered my boys at 31+6 weeks. They were born healthy and did not need breathing assistance, but did spend 21 days in NICU to learn how to feed. They are almost 2 and show no signs of their early arrival. I know that isn't very comforting, but know that if your boys do come early there is a very good chance that they will be just fine!!! Best wishes to you in the coming weeks!!

Congratulations on your twin pregnancy! I was put on bed rest at 26 weeks for a shortened cervix and we delivered via scheduled c-section at 38+2 weeks. I never went into labor ;-) I took my restrictions very seriously and NEVER pushed myself. I literally woke up in the morning, showered, got breakfast and assumed my position on the couch for the entire day. The only time I was up was to use the restroom or grab something to eat. Hang in there, you can do this!

Have you thought about joining raising-twins.com? It is the greatest support for us moms with twins or expecting twins!

Hi I wasn't put on bed rest, however did have pre eclampsia so just take it really easy and do as dr says to keep those bubs in a bit longer :-) even though I had pre eclampsia I managed to control it with medication and had my twins at 37 weeks! (full term for twins in uk) rest rest rest & good luck :-)
