Beckett and Bryce: My handsome twin bratty frats
by Erin
The boys on their 1st Birthday in Sept 09
I often joke that you can plan a pregnancy but you can't plan on having twins. My husband and I decided to try for our second child 8 months after losing our daughter to SIDS. We found out at 4 weeks that we were expecting and were even taunted that we were having twins by family. At 6 weeks, I was rushed to the emergency room because I was bleeding. I was immediately sent for an ultrasound to confirm a heartbeat or miscarriage. Once the ultrasound tech confirmed a good strong heartbeat, we asked if there was only one baby in there since we had been taunted for 2 weeks about having twins. She laughed and said everyone asks that same question, never really answering our question. I then asked to hear the heartbeat once more. She played it again but said this is your other babies heart beat. We didn't quite understand what we was saying so she had to explain herself because we were in such disbelief. Once it sank in all we could do is laugh and cry and then laugh some more. I delivered my twin boys at 28 weeks due to an amniotic infection. They spent 65 long days in the NICU. They have had no surgeries and have very minor developmental delays from their prematurity. The are healthy, thriving, bratty 17 months old today and I wouldn't change a thing about them. We are very blessed to have them in our lives and they make everyday brighter and happier because their in it.
