Adventures in tandem nursing

Knitting and nursing twins

My boy/girl twins were born at 36 weeks, and had two weeks in the NICU for feeding/growing issues. This presented a huge challenge for our breastfeeding relationship. First, my supply never quite got to where it needed to be, despite pumping every two hours around the clock. Second, my son got lazy on the bottle and was unable to transfer milk from the breast as well as he should have. But that didn't stop us from nursing!

They are six months old now, and I still take Domperidone and Fenugreek to help with low supply. I pump three times a day while I'm at work. The babies nurse at night, while we cosleep, in the morning, before I go to work, and in the evening, when I get home. I love nursing them, and plan to keep going for at least two years.
