29 weeks pregnant with twins and experiencing a burning in my chest?

by Shannon
(Shamong, NJ)

I noticed weeks ago when I would lay on my left side I would have this burning sensation under my left breast. If I laid on my right side too long I would have pain in my rib cage. Well now at 29 weeks pregnant with twins this burning is always there. Doesn't matter what position I am in. I've mentioned it to the doctor and they say its normal. It's extremely uncomfortable. I am extremely uncomfortable in general. I don't know what I can do to relieve this pain. It is making sleep impossible and just about any other position. I am on strict bedrest in pregnancy so I'm limited to how many positions I have to begin with. PLEASE HELP!!

pain in ribs

Well in the end I found out it was just normal pregancy pains (with twins). As the last comment your body starts shifting to accomodate the large uterus and causes lots of pain. I delivered at 34 +1 weeks, for me physically, it was a god sent. The last 3 weeks I was pregnant was horrible. The pain I was in was excruciating. There came a point that there was no relief. Babies were born 6wks early but they were 5 and 5 1/2 lbs. Big boys, still big now. They are just about normal size 10 wk old babies. Doing well I might add! Good luck.

Hope this helps!

What you are probably experiencing is growing pains. Your body has hormones that loosen your muscles and ligaments to make room for the baby(s). Our uterus not only grows out but it also grows upward.Because of this, the rib cage expands and shifts angles to accommodate the growing uterus. With a twin pregnancy, it just makes it all worse. If you can, try going to a massage therapist, chiropractor, or an acupuncturist. I had acupuncture done to help me deal with my nerve pain.

Did you ever find relief or what this is? I have the exact same symptoms and it's driving me crazy! I'm almost 25 weeks now with quite a ways to go and in constant pain. Amy suggestions would be great! Thank you
