23 Weeks Preganat with Twins! Boy and a Girl

by Staysea
(West Virginia)

This is my first pregnancy so finding out we are having two was very overwhelming. I actually found out rather early around 11 weeks that we were having twins. It did take a few days to get over the initial shock but we are so excited. We feel so blessed to have a Boy and A Girl all at once.

Thankfully, I have had 0 problems besides horrid morning/evening/night sickness for about the first 3 months. Since that has passed I have felt great and everything is going good.

I still worry to death everyday about something, what if they come early, what if this what if that. Something new runs thru my mind each day. One of my worries is that my local hospital (we live in a pretty small town) does not have a NICU unit, so if they do come early I worry about the fact of having to travel to another hospital (about a hour away) to deliver when I have never been there they aren't familiar with me or my pregnancy. That is just one of my many worries.
But on the other hand I have a large amount of Faith that everything is gonna work out and I pray and know that God will take care of us...it's just not easy to stop worrying about so many things I guess.

I am somewhat active still, I was very very active (3 mile runner a few times a week) when I found out I was pregnant. So I'm still walking and taking some classes and my gym...So I'm hoping all that will play in my favor and everything will turn out Great, and My Twin Babies will cook in there as long as possible and be a good healthy weight when they come out.

Guess I am just curious about others and there worries and I like to hear that going Full Term is possible with Twins, It seems like all you ever hear is the Twin Stories that dont go as good.

IT IS POSSIBLE!
by: Anonymous

It definately is possible to go to full term. I went full term (for twins) which is 37 weeks. I made it to 37 1/2 weeks. I had no complications during my pregnancy and worked full time as a nurse (three 12 hr shifts/week) until 3 weeks before I had them and then worked two 12 hr shifts/week for the next 2 weeks. I chose to take the week before I had them off. I was planning on going with a cesarian because Baby A was always breech (head up) but a week before I delivered he turned head down. So I was induced at 37 1/2 weeks, went through 13 hrs of labor and had both my boys via vaginal delivery 8 minutes apart. It definately wasn't easy because my epidural wore off during the pushing phase but it was well worth it when I got to see my little guys. Baby A was 5 lb 12 oz and Baby B was 6 lb 4 oz. Mine spent just 2 days in the NICU and were able to come home with me. So it is possible to have an easy twin pregnancy. Just stay active, that is my advice! Good luck!

You can make it
by: Shannon

Even though I didn't make it to 40 weeks, I did go to 37 weeks. That was with complications since 9 1/2 weeks, so if you haven't had many problems you can quite possibly go until around 40. It's good to hear you are doing great with your pregnancy thus far. Congrats on the boy/girl twins. That is what we had and it is great!

I remember when we found out there was twins. My first dr appt I was 5 1/2 weeks and my dr has an ultrasound in his office so he said "oh look there is either 2 in there or there is a blood clot near the baby" so I kept telling myself "oh it's a blood clot. There's no way there is 2 in there" so I never said anything to anyone just in case. Surprise surprise, when we went for the next visit at 9 1/2 weeks there were 2 heartbeats, and at that appt my husband was in shock. But it's a major blessing. I love looking to one side of me and seeing my daughter and looking to the other and seeing my son.

Can't wait to see pictures of your angels!

No complications
by: McKenzie

I have a 3 year old as well as twin boys. I was very active my entire pregnancy. I worked out 3 times a week up until my 8th month. The only reason i squite working pout was because i was just too uncomfortable. But i went 36 weeks without any complications. Had my tweins via c-section because both were breach. My boys weighed 7lbs 1oz and 6lbs 2 oz. we were in the hospital for two days and everyone went home healthy and happy!. I was concerned about complications too because i also live in a place without a NICU. If something went wrong we would have had to been air lifted to salt lake city. But for me everything went perfectly. Hope the same happens for you!

Twin pregnancy
by: Anonymous

My first pregnancy was also boy girl twins! And I too had lots of sinckness.....morning afternoon and night! When I found out I was pregnant I was 125lbs. I made it 37 and 1/2 weeks and checked in weighing 180. I gave birth thru c-section and my babies were as healthy as a singleton pregnancy. My daughter was first Lauren weighing 6lbs 8oz and my son second Lance weighing 6lbs 14oz. My pregnancy went great no bed rest and I even worked to 34 weeks. My own complain was towards the end being able to carry the weight of the babies. It was getting painful. Otherwise my doctor would have let me go longer!
Good luck and just keep positive thoughts!
